Catalina Lounge
About This Spot
Stepping into Catalina Lounge, you immediately sense the easygoing rhythm of a true neighborhood retreat tucked away in Point Loma. The pace slows down here, inviting locals and visitors alike to settle in beneath the warm glow of modest lighting, where the clink of pool balls and the low hum of friendly chatter create a comforting soundtrack. This isn’t a place chasing trends or flashiness—it’s a genuine dive bar experience that manages to feel both familiar and welcoming at once.
The atmosphere strikes a rare balance: casual but cared for, lively without losing its chill. It’s the kind of spot where bartenders remember your name and your drink, making every visit feel a little like coming home. Regulars gather around the well-worn pool tables, glasses often accompanied by complimentary goldfish crackers, reinforcing a simple, shared joy that’s as much about community as it is about what’s in your hand.
There’s a softheartedness to Catalina Lounge that stands out—from its unpretentious setting on Voltaire Street to the straightforward menu that complements the mood without stealing the spotlight. Whether you’re seeking a beer to unwind after a long day or a comfortable place to catch the game, the space unfolds naturally, encouraging good conversation, casual play, and a sense of belonging.
If dive bars feel too rough around the edges elsewhere, here it’s clear the care runs deep—seen in the attentive service and the carefully kept vibe that honors both past memories and new stories waiting to be made. Catalina Lounge is quietly proud of its roots, inviting anyone who stops by to peel back the layers of everyday life and settle into a slower, more genuine moment in San Diego’s sprawling cityscape.

One of the best dive bars in San Diego and definitely point Loma. Really down to earth service in a clean and safe environment. There’s about three pool tables. Street parking only.

San diego is blessed with so many dive bars and this one was awesome. Loved the decor and vibe. Some friends and I stopped in for some quick beers while we waited for a table at cesarina.

Favorite local bar. Nice people, pool tables, sports on tv. Good drinks and drink prices, complimentary goldfish!!! What's not to love?!

I've been going to Cat Lounge for close to 20 years. I've always loved the place & it's closest to my house. That makes it easier if I have to stumble home. I loved the old ownership & the old staff but I have to say that the new owners have come in, spruced the place up a bit & brought in a lot of new energy in to the place, by way of a great new staff. I plan on having a lot more fun times here. Cheers

The Catalina Lounge has been our "football hang-out" for the last few weeks and we've had a BLAST. Speaking of Blast-From-The-Past" we found two of our favorite bartenders here Brie and Brandon working the football crowd. It was refreshing to see that they remember all of us as soon as we walked in (by name!!!!) and what was also awesome they remembered what we drank, talk about those two making us feeling special. The ambiance on Sunday's is football, football, fun, and good times. During half time my husband and his friend like to play pool and additionally they put out some good eats (for FREEEEEEEEEEE) - yesterday it was nachos, 7 layer dip, juicy full size hot dogs (not the cheapies) and some yummy cookies and cakes. I don't know any other bar that goes that far. If you enjoy your SunFunDays watching games with friends (or by yourself, people are extra friendly there) having a ice cold beverage of choice and a GREAT time head on over.....Thanks AGAIN Brie and Brandon- you gave 10 PLUS service yesterday, see you NEXT Sunday!

Cool dive bar-like lounge off Famosa Blvd. Very spacious and has a wide variety of drinks on tap. Outdoor patio is also rather large. Right next door to Long Story, also another fun location with food.
